This research was carried out to increase the yield
by planting the nursery plants in dense, to decrease the harvest cost and to
facilitate the cultural practices like pruning and spraying on the Gemlik
olive cultivar.
The plants were planted to the experiment parcels in-row
spacing with 6x6m, 3x6m and 2x6m according to the randomized block
experimental design in Atatürk Central Horticultural Research Institute,
Yalova. Some morphological observations, measurements were done and yields
were recorded on the tree until 1998.
As a results according to the yield and morphological
records, it is determined that the most suitable row spacing for closer
planting was 3mx6m.
