SUMMARY The aim of this study is to determine the time for breaking dormancy of garlic bulbs at different temperatures and the changes in endogenous hormones during 10 weeks at these temperatures, and to find out the relationship between the dormancy time and hormonal changes. Garlic gloves were stored at 0ºC, 5ºC, 10ºC and 20ºC and warehouse. During storage they were planted each week in the unheated greenhouse. The time for sprouting and rooting rates were determined. In addition, the changes in carbohydrate (sugar, starch) content and endogenous hormones such as ABA, IAA, GA, BA were analysed. In the last year of this study, the effects of exogenous growth regulators on the time for breaking dormancy were investigated.
