SUMMARY This study was undertaken to elucidate the nutrient status and problems of white and red cabbage orchards in Bursa region. For this study, 25 white cabbage orchards and 30 red cabbage orchards were selected. Outer leaf samples were taken at the stage prior to heading for macro and micro element analyses. Soil samples were collected at 0-20 cm. depths for subsequent physical and chemical analyses. The soil texture of the orchards was generally loam and clay loam. The calcium carbonate contents of the soils were generally low and some units have no calcium carbonate at all. The organic matter content of the soils was generally low to moderate levels. The soil reactions was generally alkaline. The potassium contents of the red cabbage soils were generally at low to moderate levels. The zinc contents of both red and white cabbage soils were at low levels. The nitrogen, potassium and zinc contents of both white and red cabbage leaves were at insufficient levels. The manganese contents of white cabbage leaves were also insufficient. |
