SUMMARY

The aim of this project is to determine the N, P, and K requirements by red and white cabbage (Rebus and Möhrenkopf red cabbage CV., Yalova 1 white cabbage CV.).

The study covered N, P, K trials in which each element was applied at four different rates. The effects of N, P and K were statistically significant on the yield. N treatments affected the head diameter of all cabbage cultivars. P affected only that of Möhrenkopf whereas K affected the head diameter of Yalova 1.

The results of this study indicated that 30 kg/da N, 10 kg/da P2O5 and 20 kg/da K2O applied to the soil is sufficient for Rebus and Yalova 1 CV. 20 kg/da N, 5 kg/da P2O5 and 10 kg/da K2O is sufficient for Möhrenkopf CV.

Storage experiments indicated that Rebus red cabbage variety has better storage characteristic than Möhrenkopf and the N1P1K1 (20 kg/da N, 5 kg/da P2O5 and 10 kg/da K2O) treatment yielded better storage results in both varieties.
